Marco Benevento released Levon’s 3/9/19, a surprise live album, via Bandcamp that was recorded in 2019 at Levon Helm’s legendary barn in Woodstock, New York. The keyboardist released the live record after his sold out, two-night run — set to take place March 27 and 28 — at Levon Helm Studios was postponed due to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.

Benevento mixed and mastered the multi-track recordings — put down live with his trio consisting of bassist Karina Rykman and drummer Dave “DB” Butler — of the 16-song, 100-minute-plus set which includes staples like “Dropkick,” “Greenpoint” and “Stay In Line” as well as early versions of “Let It Slide” and “Send It On A Rocket” from Benevento’s latest studio LP, Let It Slide. The set also features covers of Butthole Surfers’ “Pepper,” The Knife’s “Heartbeats” and My Morning Jacket’s “Golden” with special guest Mikaela Davis on harp.

Benevento is offering limited edition “homemade” cassette tapes through Bandcamp — a company that waived all revenue shares for purchases made on Friday to support musicians affected by the coronavirus — which he is dubbing one by one and designing each one-of-a-kind insert by hand.
