Many Bands Contribute To Make Cancer A No Brainer Auction

Almost 690,000 Americans are living with a brain tumor today and an estimated 69,720 people will receive brain tumor diagnoses this year alone. Of those nearly 70K who will receive brain tumor diagnoses, 4.3K will be children. While many other cancers have developed mainstream support and raised hundreds of millions, the awareness of the scope and severity of brain cancer is nearly non-existent. Our friends Brad and Mindy Mastrine, through their Make Cancer A No Brainer organization, are raising funds to support brain cancer research through the launch of auctions featuring items from such bands as Phish, The String Cheese Incident, My Morning Jacket, Santana, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and many others.

The auctions started yesterday and will run through October 16th. Packages up for bid include artist signed items, merch, instruments and concert tickets. All proceeds will support increased brain tumor research through the National Brain Tumor Society and Oligo Nation. If you’re not interested in the auctions, but want to support this most worthy cause, there’s a PayPal option.

Brad and Mindy’s connection to fight against brain cancer is a personal one. Mindy was diagnosed with two brain tumors in 2012. After back-to-back craniotomies and 17 months of chemotherapy, the good news is that Mindy is doing well. Unfortunately, while the doctor was able to debulk both tumors, they will eventually come back. Between now and then, the Mastrines want to do whatever they can to increase research into low grade glioma tumor research, not just for their own benefit but for all of those inflicted.
