Maggie Rose released a new single today, “Sting.” The song is set to appear on a newly announced EP, Cocoon, arriving on October 10.
Cocoon follows Rose’s acclaimed 2024 LP, No One Gets Out Alive. Maggie further detailed the EP, which she recorded during an important time in her life.
“I am so excited to release this EP which is a collection of songs I recorded while pregnant with my son Graham. These are songs that examine growth and all its glory and edges. It was such a creative, beautiful and hopeful time for me and I wanted to seize that moment and unburden myself of feelings I no longer needed moving forward. These songs are a bridge between my last LP and where I’m headed, my old self and my new and I’m so happy that I was able to capture some feelings in these songs that represent that amazing time in my life.”
For the latest single, “Sting,” the Nashville-based Maggie Rose teamed with an all-star cast of songwriters in Natalie Hemby (The Highwomen), Steph Jones (Sabrina Carpenter, Teddy Swims) and Davis Naish.
“I couldn’t help myself when I wrote ‘Sting’ with the incredible Steph Jones, Natalie Hemby and Davis Naish,” Rose stated. “I went full-tilt into ‘I told you so’ mode and had a great time doing it. I know people will detect the playfulness in the lyric, particularly in the bridge. I hope listeners will have as much fun listening to it as I did writing it.”
