Mac DeMarco Shares Prince Cover

Weeks after his untimely death, tributes to Prince continue to surface, with Mac DeMarco sharing a cover performance today. The guitarist recorded a take on “It’s Gonna Be Lonely” from The Purple One’s 1979 self-titled sophomore LP.

Accompanied by band mate Jon Lent, DeMarco performs the tribute in a video directed by Jim Larson and posted by Pitchfork.tv. Back on April 25 shared an instagram message teasing the new recording, writing:

We lost a true hero of mine the other day. Although it’s sad, I’m sure he’s ripping a hot solo right now in the next dimension. RIP. Got a #treat in his #honor #comingsoon
