Watch Luther Dickinson Perform John Lee Hooker, Meters & More For Paste

North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson delivered a solo performance for Paste back in March during SXSW 2024. Dickinson offered covers from legendary artists John Lee Hooker, The Meters, The Staple Singers and Mississippi John Hurt at The Coral Snake in Austin, Texas.
In November 2023, Luther Dickinson released Magic Music For Family Folk. The record features songs Luther heard growing up in his musical family including his brother/NMA bandmate Cody Dickinson and their renowned father Jim Dickinson.

Included on Magic Music For Family Folk are covers of John Lee Hooker’s “Boom Boom,” The Meters’ “They All Ask’d For You,” Mississippi John Hurt’s “Beulah Land” and The Staples Singers-popularized “Are You Sure.”
Dickinson performs all the songs listed above for his Paste session and also gives some insight into the guest-filled Magic Music For Family Folk. Watch below:
