The Late Show With Stephen Colbert bandleader Louis Cato also served as the musical guest on last night’s episode of the late-night talk show. Cato performed his new single, “Black Man Blues,” with accomplished jazz guitarist John Scofield and bassist Marcus Miller.

Cato, who is capable of playing many instruments, was behind the drum kit for the Late Show performance with Miller and Scofield. The trio performed together at last weekend’s Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island.

Cato released “Black Man Blues” on June 19 to coincide with the Juneteenth holiday. “Marking the holiday today with a new expression of reclamation: this is ‘Black Man Blues,’” Cato wrote when the track came out.
