Lotus’ final show with late percussionist Chuck Morris is available on streaming services. Live In Steel City was captured at Pittsburgh’s Stage AE on February 25.

Longtime Lotus percussionist Chuck Morris and his son Charley died in a tragic kayaking accident in March 2023, less than a month after the band wrapped up their biggest tour following the pandemic. The band detailed the live album, Live In Steel City, documenting Chuck’s final show via Bandcamp:

Early in 2023 we went out for our biggest tour since before the pandemic. Playing on stage together for 5-6 hours a day throughout the tour we felt the music and improvisation had reached new peaks of creativity and precision. The tour closed with a big show in Pittsburgh (a city that feels like a second home). The entire show felt like the culmination of what we had been working on over the tour, so it seemed like a great choice for Lotus’s first full live show release.

Little did we know the show would take on a much bigger significance. On March 16, 2023 the world lost Chuck Morris and his son Charley in a tragic kayaking accident. Chuck was Lotus’s percussionist for over 20 years. We hope to honor him with this release and give people a chance to remember Chuck through the music of his final show.
