In April the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will welcome the Class of 2016 at a ceremony in New York City. Today, the nominees for next year’s class have been revealed and they include a mix of acts that have been previously nominated as well as newcomers.

Cheap Trick, Chicago, the Cars, Janet Jackson, N.W.A., Nine Inch Nails, Deep Purple, Chaka Khan, the Smiths, Chic, Yes, the Spinners, Steve Miller, The J.B.’s and Los Lobos have each been nominated for the Rock Hall’s Class of 2016. Those voting on who makes the cut include 800+ artists, historians and music insiders as well as fans who can vote here until December 9.

We’ll find out in December who will be inducted in April at a ceremony that will be broadcast after the fact by HBO. In order to be eligible, artists must have released their first single in 1990 or earlier. This time around is the first time Chicago, Cheap Trick, the Cars, Chaka Khan, The J.B.’s, Janet Jackson, Los Lobos and Steve Miller have been nominated. Deep Purple and the Spinners are nominated for the third time, N.W.A. for the fourth time and Chic for the tenth time.
