Yesterday, The Rolling Stones released their first new studio album in a decade, the 12-song Blue & Lonesome. Each of the tracks on The Stones’ LP were written and originally recorded by many of the most revered bluesmen to ever live. This week’s edition of Saturday Stream collects the source material on the record into a Spotify Playlist that goes deep into the history of American blues.

Three songs made famous by master harmonica player Little Walter are featured, including “Just Your Fool,” “Hate To See You Go” and “I Got To Go.” Chicago blues legend Howlin’ Wolf sings lead on two songs, “Just Like I Treat You” and “Commit A Crime.” Little Johnny Taylor’s “Everybody Knows About My Good Thing” and Eddie Taylor’s “Ride’em On Down” can be found alongside Memphis Slim’s “Blue & Lonesome” and Lightnin’ Slim’s “Hoo Doo Blues.” Rounding out the set are cuts by Keith Richards’ favorite Jimmy Reed and Chicago guitarists Otis Rush and Magic Sam.

The playlist below features the classic versions of the 12 songs that make up The Rolling Stones’ Blue & Lonesome presented in the order of the LP. Those tracks are followed by the new Don Was and The Glimmer Twins produced LP released yesterday by the veteran British rockers and featuring guests Eric Clapton, Chuck Leavell and Jim Keltner.
