American Idol champion Phillip Phillips could have gone the straight pop route with his career, but instead has assembled a top-notch band of world class musicians to perform songs which are more Dave Matthews Band and John Mayer than Daughtry or One Direction. Speaking of Mayer, Phillips is currently in the midst of a lengthy run opening for the guitarist at venues across the country.

Live Nation recently premiered a video of Phillips and his band in action performing the hit song “Where We Come From” live in concert. “Where We Come From” finds Phillips laying down his husky, earnest vocals over a combination of bluesy and jazzy riffs with just enough grit to keep it interesting.
