Phish bassist Mike Gordon and his daughter, Tessa Gordon, were Little Stranger‘s special guests on Friday, May 5 at Nectar’s in Burlington, Vermont. The two-song collaboration came during the Charleston, South Carolina-based hip-hop duo’s first of two sold-out shows at Nectar’s.

Little Stranger — the non-related pairing of Kevin Shields and John Shields — hung with Mike Gordon before Friday’s concert and shared a photo from the meeting on social media. John Shields introduced Mike and Tessa on Friday adding, “You know how we do it!”

Mike Gordon played acoustic guitar as Tessa Gordon sang “Funny Thing About Love,” BabyJake’s 2021 collaboration with Bipolar Sunshine. John Shields provided the beats while Kevin Shields freestyled a few verses.

Kevin Shields pointed out he was hanging out with Mike and Tessa when the Gordons noted they’ve been working on the Linda Ronstadt-popularized “You’re No Good.” Little Stranger released their own take on the song entitled “Ur No Good.” The four musicians collaborated on a version “You’re No Good”/”Ur No Good” with Tessa handling the original lyrics. Mike sang harmony and toyed with the beats on John’s machine.
