Listen To moe. ‘Star Wars’ Halloween In Philadelphia
By Scott Bernstein Nov 1, 2015 • 12:30 pm PST
For this year’s Halloween show, moe. treated a capacity crowd at the newly-opened Fillmore Philadelphia to a special Star Wars-themed performance. Not only did the band debut covers of music related to the films, they also alternated lyrics on a handful of originals and unveiled other covers to fit the theme.
moe. kicked off the show with John Williams’ famed Star Wars Overture and ended the night with Meco’s discofied reworking of the same song. In between they changed the lyrics of “St. Augustine” to “Senator Palpatine,” “Shoot First” to “Han Shot First,” “Moth” to “Hoth,” “Buster” to “Luke Can Fly,” “Yodelittle” to “Yoda.Little.Leia” and “Plane Crash” to “CGI Crash.” The band also debuted covers of “Mr. Spaceman” by The Byrds, “Cantina Band” and “Imperial March” from Star Wars, “Cosmik Debris” by Frank Zappa, “Ziggy Stardust” by David Bowie and Weird Al Yankovic’s “Lola” parody “Yoda.”
