The Lil Smokies recently performed for the eTown radio program and video series. Based out of Montana, The Lil Smokies’ eTown debut in February at the Boulder Theater saw the band play tunes from their 2020 studio album Tornillo and join forces with fellow guest Jack Broadbent and the eTown house band featuring Nick and Helen Forster for a cover of Little Feat’s “Willin.'”
Up first for The Lil Smokies was “World’s On Fire” from Tornillo. The quintet also performed Tornillo tracks “Life Out There” and “Fortune” for eTown. Nick Forster then spoke with Smokies’ dobroist Andy Dunnigan about their roots in Montana, the recording of Tornillo, their approach to songwriting and live performance and more. The episode’s finale saw Dunnigan and Broadbent duet on “Willin’,” a song penned by Lowell George originally released on Little Feat’s self-titled 1971 studio album.
