Letterman Music Files | Foo Fighters 2014 Residency

It’s been well established on a number of occasions that David Letterman is a Foo Fighters fan. Based on the apparent relationship forged over the years, it’s safe to say the feeling is shared by the band about the soon to retire host. When Letterman returned from open heart surgery on February 21, 2000 he had his “favorite band playing his favorite song” as the night’s musical guest as Dave Grohl lead the group through “Everlong.”
The frequent Late Show musical guests, Foo Fighters also appeared on the Live On Letterman series on April 12, 2011 performing their album Wasting Light and several of their well-known songs. Letterman had the band back last October for a week-long residency in support of their last album Sonic Highways.

During the residency Foo Fighters performed a total of six times, four of which included guest sit-ins by Zac Brown, Heart, Tony Joe White and Rick Nielsen. The band also was involved in several sketches, participated in a Top 10 List and Grohl sat for an interview. Watch official clips from each night of the October 2014 residency including the web-exclusive “Miracle” which was requested by the host who explains its special meaning:
