Leftover Salmon brought out longtime friend and collaborator John Bell during their set Friday at Mempho Music Festival. JB joined LoS hours before taking the stage with Widespread Panic for two headlining sets at the festival in Memphis.
“What do you say we come friends out here and have a little FESTIVAL going on?,” LoS guitarist Vince Herman asked the audience. “We’ll get Gia Welch out here. Hanna Rose. I don’t know, maybe somebody else? I don’t know, how cool would it be, if maybe like, somebody like John Bell came out here? It be like [if] Bruce Hampton was in the room.”
Bell appeared on the Mempho stage along with fellow guest vocalists mentioned by Herman, Gia Welch and Hannah Rose Graves. The collaboration consisted of a cover of the blues classic “Nobody’s Fault But Mine.” Leftover Salmon recorded a version of the song with Bell for their 1999 album, The Nashville Sessions .
