LCD Soundsystem Pays Tribute To David Bowie At Coachella
By Scott Bernstein Apr 16, 2016 • 9:52 am PDT

The newly reunited LCD Soundsystem headlined the action at the first day of this year’s Coachella festival last night in Indio, California. James Murphy & Co. stuck to a similar script as they did at three warm-up shows over the past few weeks with a few notable exceptions.
All told, LCD Soundsystem played 15 songs on Friday night including five from their 2005 debut album and four a piece from 2007’s Sound Of Silver and 2010’s This Is Happening. The group honored fellow Coachella headliners and another recently reunited band by throwing a snippet of Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain” within their own “New York I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down.” Watch fan-shot footage of “New York I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down” with the bit of “November Rain” starting at the 6:15 mark:
Later in the set, LCD Soundsystem paid tribute to the late great David Bowie with a cover of “Heroes” before closing their performance with “All My Friends.” James Murphy had collaborated a handful of times with Bowie over the last few years of the legendary rockers career. Watch a few clips of “Heroes” that have surfaced thus far.
