Laufey’s tour supporting her new album, A Matter Of Time, made a stop Tuesday at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The end of the concert saw Laufey bring out Benson Boone for a performance of “Somethin’ Stupid.”
Laufey recently embarked on the A Matter Of Time Tour with support from Suki Waterhouse. Tuesday’s setlist included 12 of the 14 songs on A Matter Of Time, alongside selections from Laufey’s previous albums, Bewitched and Everything I Know About Love.
Before bringing out the guest vocalist, Laufey prefaced Boone’s appearance by speaking to the audience, stating:
“As some of you might know, I have been doing surprise songs. This one was a bit jazzy, so I thought I’d move the surprise song up to the jazz club, of course. Doesn’t that sound like a good idea?
“I want to slow it down a little bit. But this next song – it’s a duet. I can’t sing it alone. So I’m going to get help from my friend who’s playing this week here. Is Benson Boone in the house?”
Boone, who performs at Desert Diamond Arena tonight, then made an early appearance at the Phoenix-area venue. The jazzy duet Laufey teased was the aforementioned “Somethin’ Stupid,” which was popularized by Frank Sinatra and his daughter Nancy Sinatra in 1967.
