Country rocker Koe Wetzel made his late night television debut on Thursday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Wetzel was joined by singer-songwriter Jessie Murph for a performance of “High Road.”
“High Road” featuring Murph appears on Koe Wetzel’s recently released album 9 Lives. “‘High Road’ is a good example of how this album shows a different side of me than people might expect,” Wetzel shared in a press release heralding the single. “Every record’s almost turning a new leaf, always a left turn because of how honest I am,” he admits with a laugh. “But this? It’s what the people have been expecting from me, but we hadn’t gotten there yet. It’s a grown-up version of me.”

The Texas-bred Wetzel finally appeared on late night TV last night after eight years of heavy touring. It was fitting he was given the opportunity as he’s an “ain’t startin’ my day until 2 a.m.-er.”
Koe is up for two People’s Choice Country Awards. Wetzel recently received nominations in the “New Artist of 2024” and “The New Artist Song of 2024” categories. The latter came for 9 Lives single “Sweet Dreams.” The 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on Thursday, September 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
