Kitchen Dwellers will begin 2020 with an extensive headlining tour in support of their recently released studio album, Muir Maid. The Montana-based string band also unveiled the video for Muir Maid track “Shadows.”
After their debut appearance on Jam Cruise, Kitchen Dwellers kick off the tour in late January with a run of dates in Colorado that includes stops in Frisco, Steamboat Springs, Crested Butte and Durango. It’s then off to Arizona for a show in Flagstaff and an appearance at the Gem & Jam Festival ahead of a West Coast swing that will see the band perform in San Diego, Olympia (Washington), Seattle, Portland and Bend. Kitchen Dwellers return home to end the first leg with two nights at Bozeman, Montana’s Rialto Theatre February 14 and 15.
The quartet will play Boulder’s Fox Theatre on March 7 and conclude the month at WinterWonderGrass California. Kitchen Dwellers then head to the East Coast after shows in Cleveland and Columbus for concerts in Rochester, Syracuse, Concord (New Hampshire), Stratton (Vermont), Fairfield (Connecticut), Philadelphia, Baltimore, Asheville, Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston and Atlanta. Tickets for all shows on the tour go on sale Friday, November 15 at 10 a.m. MT.
Billboard premiered the “Shadows” video and spoke with Kitchen Dwellers mandolinist Shawn Swain. Shawn told Billboard he wrote the song “upon witnessing the devastation of the opioid crisis we have going on in our country.” Swain shared more about “Shadows”:
‘Shadows’ is the fictional story about three people with their own struggles connecting to each other through this epidemic. One of them is the addict, one is a family member and the other one is in love with the addict. I tried to point out what it’s like for people who are living in this situation in an attempt to open some eyes and let people know that a lot of people out there need help — and when you do need help, it’s hard to ask for it.
