King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released the video for “Interior People.” The song appears on the Australian rockers’ recently released album, Butterfly 3000, which arrived on June 11 via the group’s KGLW label.
Butterfly 3000 is King Gizzard’s second studio album of 2021 following L.W., which dropped in February. Butterfly 3000 marks the unbelievably prolific band’s 18th studio album overall since releasing their debut LP, 12 Bar Bruise, in 2012.

King Gizzard announced Butterfly 3000 in May and stated that they would not release any advance singles or artwork before the album’s release. They are, however, releasing a video for each track once a week. This week’s release lands on the fifth track, “Interior People,” which is “about the internal battle of questioning your own sanity, and the joy that comes in letting go and surrendering to the void,” primary songwriter Joey Walker said in a press release.
Ivan Dixon wrote and directed the video for “Interior People” with animation from Studio Showoff. Press materials described the visual as “a fantasy/sci-fi tribute to Miyazaki’s Naussica, French artist Moebius and the adult animated film Heavy Metal.”
