KIMOCK Announces Summer Tour 2017 & Upcoming Release Of Singles

Last year, guitarist Steve Kimock unveiled a new band called KIMOCK. The group finds Steve joined by his son John Kimock on drums as well as multi-instrumentalist Leslie Mendelson and longtime collaborator Bobby Vega on bass. KIMOCK has announced a series of East Coast dates as well as the upcoming release of two singles.

In the wake of 2016’s Last Danger Of Frost, Steve brought the band into Bob Weir’s TRI Studios to work on a new album that will be released in the fall. The first single from the LP is “Sagan,” which includes the voice of visionary astrophysicist Carl Sagan. “Variation,” co-written by Steve and Leslie Mendelson, will be the second single.

Producer Dave Schools said of “Sagan” that “It’s an exemplary and daring experiment that takes real musicians interacting, aided and abetted by modern day processes in electronic music. It’s very 21st century, yet it never loses sight of five people sitting in a room in a circle interacting musically…which is very rare.” Of “Variation,” Schools added, it’s “where Steve Kimock takes you around the world with his deft orchestration of panglobal stringed instruments and Leslie Mendelson’s vocals take you places. And again, it’s all done within the safety zone of five musicians in a circle playing music together.”

KIMOCK will play Rams Head Onstage in Annapolis, Maryland on June 1. The band then plays a freeshow at Levitt Pavilion Steelstacks in Steve’s hometown of Bethlehem on June 2. From there, KIMOCK will visit Montclair followed by stops in Brighton, Massachusetts; Bay Shore, New York; Ardmore, Pennsylvania; Hudson, New York and Burlington, Vermont.
