Virginia’s Kendall Street Company released the bombastic “Becca’s Dad,” their third single of 2023. The quintet is joined on the track by Andy Hall of The Infamous Stringdusters on lap steel.

Kendall Street Company — vocalist/rhythm guitarist Louis Smith, bassist Brian Roy, drummer Ryan Wood, lead guitarist Ben Laderberg and saxphonist/keyboardist Jake Vanaman — shared original “Lost Together” and a cover of The Beatles’ “Fool On The Hill” earlier this year. “Becca’s Dad” displays a more raucous side of the group’s sound.

The new single is based on the true story of a loving father who could be found in the front row at rock shows around the country. Fans have described “Becca’s Dad” as “the new Stacy’s Mom” in reference to Fountains of Wayne’s 2003 smash.

“It’s a fun, upbeat track that you can’t help but bob your head to. The groove is so tight,” noted frontman Louis Smith of the song. “We’re also thrilled to have Andy Hall of The Infamous Stringdusters playing on the tune. His solo is fire. Additionally we got one of my favorite keyboardists, Daniel Clarke, to play on the track. He absolutely slays the piano and organ on this one.”

“What a pleasure it’s been to discover Kendall Street Company! Was stoked to get to play lapsteel on this absolutely rockin track they put together,” Andy Hall added. “‘Becca’s Dad’ is a fiery number.”
