Kelsey Waldon Covers Doc & Merle Watson’s ‘Bottle Of Wine’ For MerleFest

MerleFest shared video of Kelsey Waldon covering Doc & Merle Watson. The singer-songwriter chose to tackle the bluegrass legends’ “Bottle Of Wine.”
“Bottle Of Wine” originally appears on Doc & Merle Watson’s 1973 album, Then And Now. Kelsey spoke about her choice of song in the notes accompanying the video.

“I chose ‘Bottle of Wine’ off the Doc and Merle [album] Then and Now because it became one of those surprising favorites of mine that I didn’t expect,” Waldon related. “I appreciate this era of Doc and Merle when they were experimenting with other sounds, putting steel guitar on the tunes or, in this case, a marimba or xylophone of some kind. It’s a catchy one. Thank goodness for Doc Watson.”
