On October 30 and 31 Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe played shows in Woodstock and NYC respectively featuring performances of songs from Prince’s severely underrated 1980 album Dirty Mind in its entirety. KDTU performed a pair of Prince covers for Radio Woodstock on the 30th and the station has shared professionally-shot footage of the mini-set.
Denson and his band were joined by Con Brio frontman Ziek McCarter to provide vocals for the Prince covers. Watch as McCarter and KDTU tackle “Do It All Night” and “Uptown”:
Within the performance is a short chat with Denson. Karl reveals he is now officially a member of The Rolling Stones. The saxophonist said, “I am a member. They gave me a dinner and everything.” Look for Karl to show off his skills on The Rolling Stones’ upcoming tour of Latin America.
