Singer-songwriter Kara Jackson recently stopped by KEXP to perform a solo set for the Seattle independent radio station. Jackson’s captivating performance featured songs from her acclaimed 2023 debut album, Why Does The Earth Give Us People To Love?
Playing acoustic guitar, Jackson began her session by covering Karen Dalton’s “Right, Wrong or Ready.” Jackson, who was named U.S. National Youth Poet Laureate in 2019, filled in the rest of her set at KEXP with selections from Why Does The Earth Give Us People To Love?
Jackson played the album’s single, “no fun/party,” as well as fellow album tracks “pawnshop” and “brain.”
