Kanye West has apparently withdrawn from the 2022 Coachella lineup, a number of media outlets have reported. West, who now performs under the name Ye, was scheduled to headline on Sunday for both weekends of the festival taking place April 15 – 17 and April 22 – 24 at the Empire Polo Ground in Indio, California.

As reported, the reason for West’s cancelation has not yet been confirmed. A source for Variety, however, stated that the hip hop artist “had not rehearsed or prepared for the appearance.”

Pitchfork noted that West had threatened to cancel if Coachella headliner Billie Eilish did not apologize to Travis Scott, who Kanye was reportedly considering bringing out during his Coachella performance, as West felt that Eilish insulted Scott when she paused a show to help a fan at one of her concerts shortly after Scott’s Astroworld tragedy.

This instance would not be the first time West has pulled out of Coachella. He pulled out of his 2020 appearance ahead of the festival being postponed due to the pandemic.
