Mandoling playing host Chris Thile is taking his weekly radio program A Prairie Home Companion on the road at the start of next year. Guests slated to appear next month include The Shins, Ryan Adams and Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon.
The Shins will appear with Thile and fellow guest Regina Spektor at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on January 7. A live broadcast will also be held on January 14 at the Symphony Center in Chicago with Vernon and comedian Beth Stelling. The Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California will host a broadcast on January 21 with Adams as the guest.
Thile recently took over as permanent host of the weekly public radio program, taking over from Garrison Keillor who had led A Prairie Home Companion since 1974. Thile’s first official episode featured Jack White, Margo Price and others. Trey Anastasio and Jason Isbell are also among Thile’s recent guest performers.
