Grammy-winning singer-songwriter JP Saxe was joined by guitarist John Mayer as the musical guests on Thursday’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Saxe and Mayer filmed a performance of “Here’s Hopin'” that aired on last night’s episode of the CBS late night talk show.

Mayer reprised his role on the studio “Here’s Hopin'” which appears on JP Saxe’s debut full-length album, Dangerous Levels Of Introspection. The 13-track LP arrived a week ago today and also features collaborations with Maren Morris and Julia Michaels.

“It’s one of the coolest things that’s ever happened to me,” Saxe revealed about working with Mayer during a visit to Today last week. “He came (to the studio), he listened to the album before we released it… He liked the song ‘Here’s Hopin”, and he played on it, and every time I hear my songwriting hero playing on my debut album, I just run circles around myself in excitement.”

JP starts the “Here’s Hopin'” performance on guitar before moving to organ as Mayer solos at the end of the song. Watch how it went down below:
