Journey Debuts New Lineup Featuring Randy Jackson’s Return

Journey unveiled a new lineup which includes former bassist and American Idol judge Randy Jackson. Grammy-winning drummer Narada Michael Walden rounds out Journey’s new rhythm section.
The personnel change comes after now-former (and founding) bassist Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith attempted to gain control of the Journey copyright from guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain, as Rolling Stone reported. Ironically, Joureny fired Valory in 1985 and he was replaced by Jackson. Journey debuted their new lineup during a socially distanced performance of the classic anthem “Don’t Stop Believing” for UNICEF’s Won’t Stop fundraiser event.
