Josh Homme Breaks Up Fight At Queens Of The Stone Age Madison Square Garden Concert

About halfway through last night’s Queens of the Stone Age show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the band’s frontman called out fans fighting on the floor. Josh Homme wound up giving an at times brilliant three-minute speech to the crowd before QOTSA lit into “Domesticated Animals.”
Ironically enough it all started at the end of “Smooth Sailing.” Homme said, “What’s going on? Is someone having a fight? We’re not here to fight. If you want to fight stick your head up your ass and fight for air and get the fuck out.” He continued, “We’re here to dance. Everyone’s going to get laid. And you don’t want security to be all over the place, they’re already tight.”
“We can show exactly how it should be, so don’t be a dick,” continued Josh Homme. He then said, “We’re not the soundtrack to you fighting, we’re the soundtrack to you fucking” before going on to tell security not to throw out those fighting. Homme told the crowd, “We’re here to dance, drink and screw.” Josh fit in a reference to Baha Men’s “Who Let The Dogs Out?” and talked about how life is too short as an intro to “Domesticated Animals.”
