Jackson Browne Teams Up With Jonathan Wilson In Los Angeles

By Jeffrey Greenblatt Dec 24, 2017 9:21 am PST

This weekend Jonathan Wilson held court at the at the Moroccan Room in his hometown of Los Angeles for a special three-night run that was billed as ‘3 Evenings With Jonathan Wilson with Band, Friends, and Strings.’ Friday night’s bill saw the psychedelic guitarist welcome fellow Laural Canyon resident Jackson Browne for a short set that touched on both of their catalogs, as well as a pair of tunes from Browne’s longtime friend Warren Zevon.

The pair, who have a history of sharing the stage together dating back to the early part of this decade, teamed up for a version of one of Browne’s most well-known songs “These Days,” as well as his recently released single “The Dreamer,” which was inspired by the announcement earlier this year of the end of the Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The duo also offered up takes on Warren Zevon’s “Lawyers, Guns & Money,” from Zevon’s 1978 Browne-produced release Excitable Boy and “Play It All Night Long” from 1980’s Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School. Additionally, they also looked to Wilson’s songbook performing the title track from his 2011 album Gentle Spirit.
