Bassist Reed Mathis (Electric Beethoven, Billy & The Kids) teamed up with keyboardist Adam MacDougall (Circles Around The Sun, CRB), drummer Wally Ingram (Bob Weir, Stockholm Syndrome) and guitarist John Lovero (The Higgs) for a socially-distanced night of Grateful Dead music under the JOIN moniker back in October. The one-time-only performance will air one-night-only tomorrow, Christmas Eve as a livestreamed special at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT via StageIt.

The musicians, who went by “The West LA Fade Aways” that October night in West Hollywood and have since rebranded themselves as JOIN, met each other moments before taking the stage. JOIN was assembled by music journalist Benjy Eisen for a show held safely in front of a very small audience who were all COVID-tested and wore masks before the current restrictions in California were put in place.

JOIN presented improv-heavy versions of classics from the Grateful Dead songbook as well as a jam on a Phish theme. Tickets for the livestream are limited and available on a “pay what you will” basis with a $5 minimum donation recommended.
