Watch John Scofield Deliver Covers & Originals From New Album ‘Uncle John’s Band’ At Leverkusener Jazztage 2023

Germany’s Rockpalast shared full-show video of guitar great John Scofield’s November 9 performance at the 2023 Leverkusener Jazztage Festival in Leverkusener, Germany. The set saw Scofield offering both covers and originals from his October 2023 album, Uncle John’s Band.

Accompanied by renowned jazz players and collaborators drummer Bill Stweart and bassist Vicente Archer, Scofield launched his Leverkusener Jazztage set with a guitar rendition of “Blue Monk,” by legendary jazz pianist Thelonius Monk.

The trio then delivered “Mo Green” from Uncle John’s Band and also included the album’s cover of Bob Dylan’s “Mr Tambourine Man.” Bebop pioneer Charlie Parker’s “Confirmation” came next.

The trio returned to Uncle John’s Band with original compositions “Nothing Is Forever” and “Mask.” Scofield wrapped the set with the Bing Crosby standard “I Don’t Stand a Ghost of a Chance With You.”
