John Prine Shares New LP Featuring Susan Tedeschi, Alison Krauss & Others

Acclaimed singer-songwriter John Prine will issue a new guest-filled album For Better, Or Worse on Friday, September 30 through Oh Boy Records. The 69-year-old musician has made the record available to stream in advance of next week’s official release through NPR Music’s First Listen series.
Following a similar format to his 1999 album In Spite Of Ourselves, Prine enlisted an impressive roster of female performers to duet with on all but one of the 15 tracks on For Better, Or Worse. The guests include Susan Tedeschi, Alison Krauss, Amanda Shires, Iris DeMent, Lee Ann Womack, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and others. They assist on songs written by the likes of legendary country greats such as George Jones, Ernest Tubb, Buck Owens and Hank Williams.
“I cut my teeth on Hank Williams songs,” said Prine. “When I sing these songs there is a small pipeline straight from my heart to my lips.”
