John Prine Performs ‘Angel From Montgomery’ – ‘Austin City Limits’ Web Exclusive

John Prine will appear on Austin City Limits when the live concert series airs on PBS this weekend. A web-exclusive performance of “Angel From Montgomery” was posted by the long-running television program.

Prine, who this week was nominated for the Rock And Roll Hall Fame and celebrated his 72nd birthday, wrote and recorded “Angel From Montgomery” for inclusion his self-titled 1971 debut album. The song has been covered countless times by many musicians, becoming a staple of Bonnie Raitt and several others’ repertoires.
