John Oates Shares ‘The Christmas Song’
Hall & Oates’ John Oates shared a cover of “The Christmas Song.” Oates recorded the holiday classic entirely himself while homebound during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Robert Wells and Mel Tormé penned “The Christmas Song” in 1945. Nat King Cole Trio made the tune a seasonal staple with their hit recording in 1946.
Oates’ version of the song came with a note from the renowned singer-songwriter and musician. Read his words below:
Since being homebound during the pandemic I’ve been recording at home using Apple’s Garage Band on my computer. For me it’s therapeutic and a great way to pass the time. I chose to record the Mel Torme Classic ” The Christmas Song ” playing all the instruments myself and giving it a little more of a bluesy feel. A great song doesn’t need much…simplicity is beautiful. I hope you all enjoy it. J.O.
John Oates’ “Christmas Song” arrived with an accompanying lyric video, which begins with John thanking frontline healthcare workers. Watch it below:
