John Mellencamp duets with Bruce Springsteen on the new single “Wasted Days.” Mellencamp penned and produced the track with The Boss adding guitar and vocals.

The first ever collaboration from the legendary musicians will appear on the next John Mellencamp album. “Bruce is singing on the new record and is playing guitar,” Mellencamp confirmed at an event in May as per Billboard. Mellencamp’s follow-up to 2018’s Other People’s Stuff and first record of original material since 2017’s Sad Clowns & Hillbillies is due out in 2022.

“I worked on three songs on John’s album and I spent some time in Indiana with him,” Springsteen revealed on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio in June. “I love John a lot. He’s a great songwriter and I have become very close [with him] and had a lot of fun with him. I sang a little bit on his record.”

Frequent Springsteen collaborator Thom Zimny produced and directed a video for the track, which was filmed while Mellencamp and Springsteen were together earlier this month in New Jersey. Watch the visual below:
