John Mayer Kicks Off 2024 European Solo Tour In Stockholm

John Mayer began his 2024 tour schedule in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday. The first of two solo acoustic concerts at Tele2 Arena kicked off a European solo tour for the guitarist and singer-songwriter.

Mayer launched his first concert of 2024 with trusty opener, “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room,” off his 2006 album, Continuum. “Shot in the Dark” — from his latest studio album, 2021’s Sob Rock — followed. The guitarist also performed the LP’s “Shouldn’t Matter But It Does” in the first acoustic portion of the set along with staples “Who Says” and “Waitin’ on the Day.”

Mayer would also take it back to his 2001 debut album Room for Squares in the first acoustic section, offering the record’s “No Such Thing” and “Neon.” The latter preceded “In Your Atmosphere” before the guitarist switched to piano for “You’re Gonna Live Forever In Me” and “Changing,” two cuts off the singer-songwriter’s 2017 LP, The Search for Everything.

The second acoustic guitar section began with staple “Stop This Train.” Mayer then delivered “The Age Of Worry” from his 2012 folk-rock inspired album, Born and Raised, the record John leaned most heavily on — also performing “Queen of California,” “Walt Grace’s Submarine Test, January 1967” and “If I Ever Get Around to Living.”

The latter two Born and Raised cuts closed the second acoustic portion and opened the two-song double neck acoustic guitar section respectively. Mayer wrapped his main set with “Edge of Desire” from his 2009 album, Battle Studies.

The guitarist kicked off the encore with a lesser played Continuum track, “The Heart of Life.” John Mayer concluded with staple cover closer, Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin.” John Mayer returns to Tele2 Arena today before continuing through Scandinavia ahead of concerts in the UK, Amsterdam, Paris and Ireland.
