John Mayer Debuts New Single ‘I Guess I Just Feel Like’ In LA
By Scott Bernstein Oct 25, 2018 • 7:04 am PDT

Guitarist John Mayer performed a solo set at the intimate iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Mayer’s nine-song performance included the debut of new track “I Guess I Just Feel Like.”
The Connecticut native premiered the song early in his set. “I am hugely indecisive and I am constantly getting my inspiration replaced … so I put out [2018 single] ‘New Light’ and I’m like ‘I’m gonna do a whole record like ‘New Light’ … and then I [change my mind],” Mayer told the crowd in explaining that he may just continue releasing singles instead of full albums. John doesn’t expect his latest composition to become a hit. “There’s nothing hit-like about it, but sometimes you just need to tell the truth with a guitar,” Mayer added.
John Mayer opened the set with “Love On The Weekend” from his 2017 album The Search For Everything. He went on to present a career-spanning performance that included such hits as “Your Body Is A Wonderland,” “Daughters” and “Waiting On The World To Change.” Mayer also treated fans to a cover of “Free Fallin'” by Tom Petty and a stripped-down rendition of “New Light.” The guitarist also used backing tracks for a remix of “Moving On And Getting Over” that contained a jam on Toto’s “Africa.” Watch videos from John Mayer’s set in Los Angeles:
