John Mayer And Friends Jam On Michael Jackson & Donny Hathaway At Surprise Show


Guitarist John Mayer played a surprise show at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Mayer’s band for the evening included drummer Steve Jordan, bassist Thundercat, guitarist Zane Carney and vocalist David Ryan Harris. Okayplayer has shared video from performance for our viewing pleasure.

The video below features 12 minutes worth of jamming from last night’s show. Mayer and his band work portions of “The Ghetto” by Donny Hathaway and Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” into the mix as part of the impressive performance. John Mayer will hit the road with Dead & Company for an extensive tour this summer. Dead & Company begin the tour at PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte on June 10 ahead of two sets at this year’s Bonnaroo. The band, which features Mayer, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Jeff Chimenti and Oteil Burbridge, recently added a batch of West Coast dates.
