John Mayer Shares ‘Carry Me Away’ Single & Debuts Live Version In Dallas

Guitarist John Mayer released “Carry Me Away,” his second single of 2019. The follow-up to February’s “I Guess I Just Feel Like” was accompanied by a video featuring Mayer recording the track. The Connecticut native debuted the live version of “Carry Me Away” just minutes before the studio version came out last night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

John Mayer sports a Deadheadland t-shirt at the start of the “Carry Me Away” video. The clip documents the recording process and a hang with an extremely cute dog. Mayer plays multiple instruments on the track and from the looks of the video produced “Carry Me Away.” The guitarist told the crowd in Dallas on Thursday that the single would be released minutes after the concert ended. “It comes out 11 p.m. in this time zone and how unfair would be it be to gyp you by one minute?,” John explained as part of his intro to the track. “So we’re gonna play this song that’s coming out tonight that’s called ‘Carry Me Away.’ I never know what these things are until a year later, but it’s another song I wrote that made me happy and it goes like this …”
