p>Yesterday marked 28 years since the Grateful Dead were joined onstage by a number of guests at the Bay Area Music Awards put on by BAM magazine. Taking home five awards including Outstanding Album for In The Dark, the Dead’s performance at the 11th annual Bammies featured Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty, Huey Lewis & The News and longtime collaborator Merl Saunders sharing the stage together.

Held at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium on March 12, 1988, the Grateful Dead showed up dressed for the occasion, as Bob Weir sported a tuxedo and Jerry Garcia (who was named Best Guitarist and Bay Area Musician Of The Year) even donned a sport coat. According to Jerrygarcia.com, the Dead played a short set accompanied by Huey Lewis & The News on “Good Morning Little School Girl,” “Turn On Your Lovelight” and “Long Tall Sally.”

Fogerty and Saunders emerged to sit-in on “Long Tall Sally,” partial video of which can be seen below thanks to zanzkantdance :
