John Craigie Shares Marty Robbins-Inspired ‘Edna Strange’ Single

John Craigie continues the rollout for his upcoming album I Swam Here with the single “Edna Strange.” The singer-songwriter drew inspiration for the track from renowned country and western artist Marty Robbins.
I Swam Here comes on the scene February 6 through Craigie’s Zabriskie Point Records. The troubadour previously shared the singles “Fire Season” and “Dry Land.”
“The majority of these songs were recorded on a nylon string guitar, which is a first for me,” Craigie said of I Swam Here. “Edna Strange,” however, is the only track on the record where John plays steel string acoustic.
The nylon string guitar on the track is played by . “Edna Strange” is also one of the only songs not to feature vocals from longtime Craigie collaborator Anna Moss. John opted to use a male trio for backing vocals, a la Marty Robbins.
