Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Shares Official Recording Of Wild Las Vegas Show

On December 11, 2015 Grateful Dead tribute act Joe Russo’s Almost Dead impressed with a fantastic show at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. JRAD’s Sin City performance featured a handful of Bob Weir songs taken deep by the band and started with a special soundcheck performance for those who purchased packages from CID.

The band has unveiled a crispy soundboard matrix recording of their Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas show from December ’15. Up first is the CID soundcheck set including a lengthy “St. Stephen” and spot-on rendition of “Greatest Story Ever Told” featuring “Tennessee Jed” in the middle. The first set includes a wild “Reuben And Cerise,” a quick romp through “Casey Jones,” a well-jammed “Estimated Prophet,” straight-forward “Tennessee Jed” and gorgeous takes on “The Wheel” and “Ramble On Rose” as well as a cover of “Ophelia” by The Band.

JRAD’s second set in Vegas shows just what this band is capable of when it comes to improvisation. You’ve never heard versions of “Black Throated Wind” and “Throwing Stones” quite like this. Nearly everything is jammed out including “Mississippi Half-Step,” “The Music Never Stopped,” “Cumberland Blues” and “Stella Blue.” Almost Dead brought the evening to a close with a frenetic “Deal.” Listen to the “new” recording below.
