Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Announces Northeast Run
By Scott Bernstein Dec 10, 2015 • 8:15 am PST
Grateful Dead tribute act Joe Russo’s Almost Dead has announced a five-show run through the Northeast. The announcement was accompanied by word these would be the group’s “last road dates for a while.” Bassist Dave Dreiwitz will be in Colorado with Ween, so he will not participate in the run.
The band, which normally features drummer Joe Russo joined by guitarists Scott Metzger and Tommy Hamilton as well as keyboardist Marco Benevento and bassist Dave Dreiwitz, will begin the run at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC on February 10. From there, the group will play shows in New Haven, Providence and Portland, Maine before bringing the run to a close at Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vermont on February 14. Shakey Graves and Cass McCombs bassist Jon Shaw will handle bass duties for the run.
Here’s a note from Joe:
When Boognish calls, you answer. As one could assume, it is quite difficult to wrangle the schedules of the five members of Almost Dead with all of the different projects, bands and family commitments. These freshly announced February dates had been on the books for a while when Dave got the call that WEEN (holy shit!) was possibly getting back together in Colorado. We couldn’t be more excited for Dave and Ween.
Rest assured, Dave’s post will be kept warm in the fully capable hands of Mr Jon Shaw (Shakey Graves, Cass McCombs). Jon is an incredible musician and much like our dear Dave, one hell of a human being. We are super excited for Dave. We’re super excited for our Feb shows! We’re just plain excited all around. Thanks all, for the incredible support!
See you soon!
Lots of love,
Joe
Tickets for all of the new shows go on sale this Friday at noon ET, the same day Joe Russo’s Almost Dead plays Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas ahead of a performance at Oakland’s Fox Theater on Saturday.
