Singer-songwriter Joanna Sternberg shared the whimsical new single, “A Country Dance.” The song was recorded for the forthcoming Nathan Silver-directed feature film, Between The Temples.
Sternberg gifted the new track one day after their birthday. The song is the third standalone single issued by Sternberg following the release of their sophomore album, I’ve Got Me, which came out last summer on Fat Possum.

Sternberg recorded “A Country Dance” in Upstate New York with the assistance of Alex Wenquest. “A Country Dance” features prominently in Between The Temples. The film starring Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane was shown recently at the Sundance Film Festival.
The song was inspired by Sternberg’s friend Sami Bronowski, who was the first to suggest Sternberg perform in public.
“I don’t dance, I don’t drink wine, I don’t go outside and I DEFINITELY do not go out in nature (allergies and insect phobias),” Sternberg said of the new song, “But I wanted a playful nonsensical song to sing and to capture the fun I have with my dear pal.”
Sternberg will soon play a run of shows in the United Kingdom, followed by a performance supporting The Babies reunion concert in New York City. Stream “A Country Dance” below:
