JJUUJJUU, the psych-rock collective led by Los Angeles-based musician Phil Pirrone, visited KEXP’s Seattle studios in August to deliver a Live on KEXP performance. Pirrone led the band through some of JJUUJJUU’s recent singles and also touched on the album Zionic Mud.
A veteran musician, Phil Pirrone is also behind such festivals as Desert Daze and Moon Block Party. JJUUJJUU released their debut full-length album, Zionic Mud, in 2018 and have released a string of singles in 2023 and 2024.

JJUUJJUU — Pirrone on lead vocals and guitar, drummer Joseph Assef, bassist Eric Werner, guitarist/vocalist Nicole Verhamme and guitarist Ian Gibbs — kicked off their KEXP session with a cut off Zionic Mud, “Bleck.”
Next, Pirrone and company delivered an unreleased song, “Willing.” JJUUJJUU then turned to a pair of recent singles beginning with 2024’s “SOME.” The session came to a close with the 2023 release, “Nowhere.”
