The Jingle Punks Hipster Orchestra have woven together bits of “99 Problems,” “Crazy In Love,” “Irreplaceable,” “Halo,” “Empire State of Mind” and more for a new lullaby medley for Blue Ivy, the newly minted child of Beyonce and Jay-Z. Sweet yet musically savvy, this is an effective use of a music school education, in our humble opinion. Self-described as “the ultimate marriage of high and low brow culture,” the Jingle Punks released their debut in March of 2011, and by all indications, won’t be playing too many more Bar Mitzvahs if they keep ’em coming like this clever concoction. A newfangled Penguin Cafe Orchestra? Mayhap, and that’s nothing but good news.
