Watch Jimmy Fallon’s Spot-On Neil Young Impersonation Of Ariana DeBose’s Viral BAFTAs Rap

Singer/actor Ariana DeBose’s recent rap performance namechecking nominees and others in the audience at the 2023 BAFTAs went viral in part for its awkwardness. Last night’s episode of The Tonight Show featured host Jimmy Fallon reprising his spot-on impersonation of Neil Young for a parody performance of the cringy “Angela Bassett Did The Thing” awards show rap.

Fallon’s previous appearances channeling Neil Young include covering Iggy Azeala’s “Fancy” with David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, and covering Willow’s “Whip My Hair” with Bruce Springsteen. Young himself has also appeared alongside Fallon’s doppelgänger for performances of “Old Man” and the comedic “Two Neil Youngs On A Tree Stump.”

On Saturday, Young performed in public for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic when he made a surprise appearance at an anti-logging rally in his native Canada. The performance took place at the United For Old-Growth event held outside the British Columbia Legislature Building on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Prior to the two-song performance on Saturday, Young had last publicly performed at Farm Aid in September 2019.
