CELEBRATES 30TH ANNIVERSARY

Much beloved of grubby fingered record store clerks and other connoisseurs of pop genius, Nick Lowe‘s long out-of-print solo debut, Jesus Of Cool, gets a special 30th Anniversary Edition from Yep Roc Records on February 19, 2008. This will also the first time the album will be officially released in the U.S. under its original title. In 1978 Lowe was forced to change it to the more benign (but totally accurate) Pure Pop For Now People for Stateside release. The Anniversary Edition will also restore the original sequencing, add extensive liner notes, correct musician credits, archival photos and bonus tracks.

After a groundbreaking stint in British pub rockers Brinsley Schwarz (1969-1975), Lowe extricated himself from his contract at United Artists and helped launch beloved punk-pop label Stiff Records, where he produced the debut albums from The Damned and Elvis Costello before releasing Jesus Of Cool. Besides his own burgeoning career both solo and with Rockpile, Lowe produced every Costello record from 1977’s My Aim Is True to 1981’s Trust, all of which bear the influential fingerprints of Jesus Of Cool. This deluxe reissue follows on the heels of Lowe’s justifiably celebrated 2007 release At My Age.
